What are the categories of cold rolled products?

Feb 23, 2024

Cold-rolled products for automobiles mainly include the following categories:
(1) A series of high-strength steel plates aiming at weight reduction and energy saving;
(2) Deep drawing steel plate series aimed at improving formability;
(3) Surface-treated steel plate series aimed at improving automobile anti-corrosion capabilities;
(4) Aiming at the development of high-performance automobiles, composite steel plates for vibration reduction and noise reduction and mirror steel plate series to improve appearance quality and reflectivity.

cold-rolled steel plates

Introduce the characteristics of cold rolled products. Cold-rolled surface-treated steel plate is a very important product among cold-rolled sheets. Its main difference from other cold-rolled steel plates is that its surface is covered with a protective layer of other metals, thereby insulating the matrix from the air and having better Anti-corrosion properties and better surface quality. According to different coatings and production methods, they can be divided into the following categories:

hot dipped galvanized steel plate
After the cold-rolled strip is annealed and passed through the molten zinc pot, the thickness of the zinc protective layer is accurately controlled by an air knife. The coated steel sheet produced using this method becomes a hot-dip galvanized steel sheet. Because the steel strip produced by this method has a thick coating, good anti-corrosion properties, and can adapt to outdoor and harsh environments, it is widely used in the construction industry, home appliance manufacturing, power vehicle industry, machinery industry, container manufacturing and packaging industry, etc. .

For example, building roofs, building frames, side walls, doors, windows, waterways, ventilation ducts, etc.; washing machines, refrigerators, computer cases, etc. in household appliances; manufacturing car casings, inner panels, floors, side beams, etc.; used for Agricultural tractors, seed transplanters, fertilizer spreaders, granaries and various containers all require a large amount of hot-dip galvanized sheets.

electro galvanized steel plate
Electro-zinc plating uses electrochemistry, using a zinc ingot as an anode. Zinc atoms lose their electrons and become ions that dissolve into the electrolyte. The steel strip serves as a cathode. Zinc ions gain electrons on the steel strip and are reduced to zinc atoms that are deposited onto the steel. Strip surface to form a coating.

Galvanized steel

The electro-galvanized layer is uniform, firmly bonded to the steel base, and has few surface defects, making it very decorative. However, the thickness of the electro-galvanized zinc layer is thin, only one-fifth to seven-tenths of the thickness of the hot-dip galvanized zinc layer. one. If the electroplated zinc layer is thickened, it will not only consume a lot of power, but also require a longer residence time in the electrolyte, which requires additional equipment. The weight of the zinc layer of electroplated zinc is generally about 90g/m2, so its range of use is limited. Electro-galvanizing is generally used in the home appliance and automotive industries, such as LCD TV back panels and exterior panels of high-end automobiles.

Electroplated tin steel plate
The production principle of electrolytic tin plating is similar to electrolytic zinc plating. It also uses electrochemical methods to form a plating layer of tin to cover the surface of the steel plate.

Tin plate (commonly known as tinplate) is mainly used indoors for packaging products such as cans and tea boxes, so it does not require too thick a coating. In addition, the tin plating layer serves as the cathode for electrochemical corrosion. Once the iron is exposed, the iron acts as the anode and dissolves, and the tin plating layer completely loses its protective effect. Therefore, tin-plated plates often require a uniform, non-porous and thin mirror layer, and the characteristics of electric tin-locking can exactly meet these requirements.
