"AZ150" is one of the most commonly used grades of galvanized steel sheet, following internationally accepted coating weight marking conventions. "AZ" stands for "Aluminum-Zinc," representing an alloy coating of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. "150" refers to a total coating weight of 150 grams per square meter on both sides of the steel sheet. Converted to a single side, this translates to approximately 75 grams per square meter per side. This grade is a core indicator of a product's corrosion resistance. The coating essentially sacrifices itself to provide cathodic protection (primarily from the zinc component) to the substrate and forms a dense alumina film (primarily from the aluminum component) for barrier protection. A higher coating weight means more material is available for consumption, and naturally, a longer corrosion life.

AZ150 is generally considered a "commercial grade" standard. Its corrosion resistance is typically 2-6 times that of pure galvanized sheet (such as the GI series) of the same coating weight. It can withstand typical atmospheric conditions and rainwater erosion, making it an ideal choice for applications such as roofing, wall panels, and air ducts. From a price perspective, coating weight is a significant factor in product cost. Producing thicker coatings requires more raw metal and longer processing times, so the price of AZ150 will be higher than grades with thinner coatings (such as AZ100), but lower than grades with thicker coatings (such as AZ180 and AZ200). Users must make their purchasing decisions based on the intended use environment of their end product. For example, in dry inland cities, AZ100 or AZ120 may be sufficient. However, in coastal areas or industrial zones with high humidity and salinity, it is recommended to choose AZ150 or higher grades, and even consider color-coated steel with additional coatings to ensure a long service life and avoid losing more than you gain.

Galvanized Surface Selection

Aluminum-zinc steel plate alloy coating consists of about 55 % aluminum, about 43.5 % zinc and about 1.5 % Silicon,Compared with traditional galvanized products, it has excellent corrosion resistance, heat resistance and thermal reflectivity, etc. Aluminum-zinc plate surface spangle are small and uniform, bright colors, high surface hardness, can be coated with a variety of color fingerprint, widely used in home appliances, construction, structure, electrical and other industries.
