1. Grade Definition and Equivalents
SPCE (JIS G3141) is a cold-rolled low-carbon steel for deep drawing. Its European counterpart is DC03 (EN 10130, W.Nr. 1.0338) - cold formed cold rolled mild steel flat products. The two are approximate equivalents; specify the standard on the material certificate.
2. Chemical Composition (Typical, wt%)
| Element | C | Mn | P | S |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Value | ≤0.08 | ≤0.40 | ≤0.030 | ≤0.030 |
3. Mechanical Properties
| Condition | Tensile (MPa) | Yield (MPa) | Elongation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cold-rolled flat, t ≥0.35 or w ≥600 mm (EN 1.0338) | 270–350 | 140–210 | ≥38% |
| JIS SPCE (typical) | 270–330 | ≤195 | ≥40% |
Thickness corrections (EN): for 0.5 < t ≤0.7 mm, yield +20 MPa and elongation −2%; for t ≤0.5 mm, yield +40 MPa and elongation −4%.
4. Surface Designations
Surface type A or B; surface specification b = extremely smooth, g = smooth, m = matte, r = rough. Example designation: EN 10130+A1-DC03-B-g. The product should not show tensile strain marks within 6 months from the date of manufacture (strain-aging control).
5. Applications
Deep-drawn automotive components, appliance panels, kitchen equipment and general stamped parts requiring consistent forming performance.
