What material is electrical steel?
Electrical steel - high-quality materials ensure stable power supply
Electrical steel is a material specifically used to make the cores of power transformers. It has excellent characteristics such as high magnetic permeability, low loss, low hysteresis, and high stability. It is one of the indispensable and important materials in power systems.
The main component of electrical steel is silicon, usually accounting for about 2%. The electronic arrangement of silicon element in crystalline silicon is very orderly and has good electrical conductivity, which can effectively reduce the hysteresis loss of the iron core and improve the energy efficiency of the transformer.
At present, electrical steel has become one of the basic raw materials in the power industry and is widely used in transformers, motors, generators and other fields, providing an important guarantee for stable, efficient and safe power supply.
Classification and Application of Electrical Steel
According to the different characteristics and uses of electrical steel, there are currently two main types of electrical steel on the market, namely cold-rolled electrical steel and hot-rolled electrical steel.
Cold-rolled electrical steel is made after cold processing and has high magnetic permeability and low hysteresis loss. It is suitable for manufacturing high-efficiency and energy-saving transformers and motors. Hot-rolled electrical steel is made through thermal processing and usually has low magnetic permeability and high hysteresis loss, and is suitable for manufacturing low-cost, high-power transformers and motors.

In addition to transformers and motors, electrical steel is also widely used in generators, electromagnetic coils, electronic components and other fields. For example, the excitation core of the generator, the iron core of the electromagnetic coil, the magnetic head, the nuclear magnetic resonance instrument, the variable frequency air conditioner, etc. all need the support of electrical steel.
Production and quality control of electrical steel
The production process of electrical steel is mainly divided into raw material selection, rolling, annealing, pickling, straightening, oiling, cutting and other links. Among them, annealing is the most critical step in the production process of electrical steel, which directly affects the magnetic and mechanical properties of electrical steel. Therefore, proper annealing process is very important.
In order to ensure the quality of electrical steel products, it is necessary to comprehensively control all aspects of the product, including the selection of raw materials, control of the production process, quality inspection, etc. Relevant quality standards mainly include magnetization curve, no-load loss, hysteresis loop, saturation magnetic induction intensity and other indicators. At the same time, the production of electrical steel also needs to comply with the requirements of relevant national laws and regulations, such as GB/T 2521-2008 "Precision Cold Formed Thin Plate Electrical Steel" and other standards.
In short, electrical steel is an indispensable and important material in power systems, and its production and quality control are crucial. Only by fully controlling the production process and ensuring product quality standards can we provide solid material guarantees for the stable operation of the power system.
